COVID-19: Tally crosses 12,000-mark

The Maldives on Monday recorded 23 positive cases of COVID-19. The Maldives’ tally has now crossed the 12,000-mark.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,324 samples were tested on Monday, out of which 23 samples came back positive.

According to HPA, 21 cases were identified in the Greater Male' Region and the remaining two cases were identified in the atolls. Out of these, 20 are locals and the rest are foreigners. The total number of positive cases recorded to date is now at 12,009.

While 830 cases are currently active across 14 islands and 25 resorts, 40 deaths have been recorded to date, with the most recent death registered on Sunday. 52 patients are currently hospitalised while two are being treated in the ICU.
