SilkAir resumes operation to the Maldives

Singapore-based airline SilkAir has resumed operation to the Maldives.

The flights recommenced on Tuesday with the airline’s first flight arriving from Changi International Airport to Velana Internation Airport. Two weekly flights are scheduled to operate between the two airports.

SilkAir first introduced its flight operations to Maldives back in 2015, with 9 weekly landings to Maldives. The airline previously operated a single daily flight between the two countries, which was abruptly halted after Maldives closed its borders in March, amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. After the Maldives reopened its borders to international tourists on 15th July with the reopening of several resorts and liveaboards, SilkAir had previously announced its plans to resume operation to the Maldives in December.
