A Brazilian man smuggling drugs inside his body has been detained by the police.
Maldives Police Services Sunday said Renato Alfredo, 21 was arrested on November 28th. The drugs hidden in his body were discovered after customs officials noticed suspicious behaviour, after which they searched the man using an x-ray scan. He was then taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed the presence of foreign bodies.
The police said the man was admitted at the hospital, and 66 bullets of substances suspected of being drugs were excreted out of his body.
The Criminal Court has remanded the man into custody until the end of his trial.
