No vehicles to operate in Male' city for four hours on New Year's Day

Male’ City Council has announced that vehicles will not be allowed to operate in capital Male’ for a number of hours on January 1, 2021.

In an announcement issued on Wednesday, Male’ City Council said while 2020 had forced residents of Male’ City to stay home with no travel options for a large part of the year due to COVID-19, the council wishes to facilitate an enjoyable evening for the residents of the islands.

In this regard, only walking will be allowed on the streets of Male’ and Vilimale’ this Friday from 04:00pm to 08:00 pm. During this time, vehicles with engines, with the exception of police and MNDF vehicles, ambulances, public transport and vehicles used by handicapped persons, will not be permited to operate on the streets.

Action will be taken against those who do not adhere to the vehicle ban.
