COVID-19: Tally crosses 15,000 with 109 positive cases

The Maldives recorded 109 positive cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. This is the second consecutive day in which the daily number of cases have remained above 100, and is the highest number of daily cases registered in the Maldives in recent weeks. The country’s tally has now crossed 15,000 and is at 15,103.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said out of the 4,742 samples tested during the period, 79 positive cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region. The remaining 32 cases were registered in the atolls.

The Maldives has recorded 13,884 recoveries and 51 deaths until now, with the most recent death registered on Sunday. 1,160 cases are active across Maldives and 87 people are currently hospitalized. Three are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit out of which one is on ventilator support.
