The Maldives recorded 145 positive cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. This is the third consecutive day in which the daily number of cases have remained above 100, and is the highest number of daily cases registered in the Maldives in recent weeks. The country’s tally is now at 15,247.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said out of the 3,338 samples tested during the period, 93 positive cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region. 52 cases were registered in the atolls.
The Maldives has recorded 13,916recoveries and 51 deaths until now, with the most recent death registered on Sunday. 1,273 cases are active across Maldives and 93 people are currently hospitalized. Three are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit out of which one is on ventilator support.
The number of cases being registered in the Maldives has been on the rise since the beginning of the year. While over 1,200 cases were identified in the Maldives during the first 24 days of the year, three deaths were recorded during this period.
