Over 140 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalised

The number of COVID-19 patients currently hospitalised in the Maldives is at 142, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated.

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has been increasing in capital Male’ over the past couple of weeks. Over 100 cases have been recorded everyday for the past five days. The country’s tally is at 15,616.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the number of active cases is 1,492. Out of these, 142 people are receiving treatment in hospitals. This is the highest number of hospitalisations over the past few months. Out of these, three are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.

While 51 COVID-19 deaths have been registered in the Maldives thus far, three deaths have been recorded this month. HPA recently announced stricter restrictions in Male’ to curb the spread of the virus.
