Ten additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Hulhumeedhoo island of Addu city.
The positive cases were identified in Hulhumeedhoo from an MTCC worksite on the island. While the total number of positive cases at the site have now reached 22, all those who tested positive are foreigners.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), two people who were in quarantine in Hulhumeedhoo tested positive for the virus last week. At that time, no contacts were reported, so no persons were put in quarantine in connection to the positive cases.
However, four people were later tested after they exhibited symptoms of the virus, and 60 people were on the site at the time. Hulhumeedhoo has been put on HPA’s monitoring status until contact tracing is completed.
