Japanese govt extends grant to MIT

The Government of Japan has extended a grant of USD 130,000 to Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). The grant was extended to MIT under the Human Security Projects (GGP) of Grass Roots.

A special ceremony was held on Wednesday to sign the grant agreement between Japan and Maldives. The grant was handed over to the Maldives government by Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Ms. Keiko Yanai.

According to MIT, the grant will be utilized for procurement of equipment to strengthen ongoing skill training programs of MIT and to establish additional training laboratories. In this regard, civil engineering, land survey and concrete testing laboratories will be established at MIT for the first time. The grant will also help in further enhancing the standard of vocational and engineering programs being conducted at MIT.
