The Maldives on Saturday reported a record number of COVID-19 cases.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 508 people tested positive for the virus, including 276 cases in capital Male'. 185 cases were identified in the atolls while 44 cases were from resorts and industrial islands. This brings the country's tally to 30,745.
While 5,594 COVID-19 cases are active at this time, 172 people are hospitalized. The archipelago has recorded 74 COVID-19 deaths to date, and reported its most recent death over the past 24 hours.
