Drugs worth MVR 10 million have been seized by authorities.
According to Maldives Customs Service, the drugs were smuggled in by a 30 year old UK national who arrived in the Maldives from Ethiopia on May 25th. His luggage was checked by Customs due to suspicious behavior and his travel route. Upon searching, 3.413 kg of drugs were discovered in his luggage. The substance tested positive for cocaine upon initial testing, said Customs.
Customs said the street value of the drugs are MVR 10,239,000. Both the suspect and the drugs are now in police custody.
